How To Make The Perfect Beach Bag With HTV

I don’t know about you, but whenever I head to the beach or pool for a few hours it feels like I have to pack up my whole life!  Packing a beach bag is no easy task, it is so important to make sure you have everything you need (especially with kids), so I knew I had to come up with a solution.  We are gonna show you how to make the perfect beach bag to carry everything you need to take to the beach or to the pool this summer. And we are gonna create it using HTV.

Supplies needed:

ImPressed Vinyl HTV in the multi-colored pack
Teflon sheet (included in the color pack)
Cutting Machine (I used a Silhouette Cameo)
-Weeding Hook or crafting tweezers
Blank Tote
Zippered Pouches
-home iron

Step One: Prepare designs

To begin, download your chosen SVG from our large selection of cut files. Then open the file in your computer software (I used Silhouette Studio.)

Next, resize the image so it will fit onto your bag. Click and drag the corner until it has reached your desired size.

Right-click the design and select Flip Horizontally. Because our machine cuts on the backside of the vinyl, we need to always mirror our designs.

Now our design is mirrored and ready to cut!

For the mini pouches, we are going to make four labels so we can organize all the essentials needed for time in the sun. Begin by drawing a rectangle with the drawing tool. Size it to fit on the pouch.

Use the text tool and type out your first word.

Change the font to how you’d like it.

When preparing designs, I like to add fill color so I get an idea of what the finished design will truly look like. Click on the rectangle and then go to the Fill Color window and add some color.

Now place your text over the rectangle and center it.

Repeat for the other three labels. Now you want to right click all of the labels and select Flip Horizontally to mirror all of them.

Now our labels are all set to cut as well!

Step Two: Cut out HTV designs

Once all our designs are ready to go, it’s time to cut! Go to your cut settings menu and choose the material we will be cutting. The Heat Transfer, Smooth settings work well with our vinyl. If you aren’t using the auto blade on the Silhouette CAMEO 3, be sure to change your blade depth accordingly.

Make sure all the lines are selected to cut, then place your material onto the cutting mat, shiny side down.

Load the cutting mat into the machine, then let it get to work!

For cutting the labels, you can place each color onto the mat at once, as long as your HTV lines up with your designs in your workspace. It will save you lots of time!

Step Three: Weed each HTV piece

After all our designs have been cut, it’s time to weed. Begin by gently pulling the corner of the vinyl off, leaving the design.

Use a weeding hook or a pair of craft tweezers to peel out the little insides of the design.

Continue until all parts of the designs have been weeded.

Step Four: Press designs onto bags

Turn on your iron to cotton settings with no steam. Take the large tote bag and place the large summer design in the center of the bag.

Cover the design with a teflon sheet and press for 15-20 seconds with firm pressure.

Allow the design to cool at least 1 minute. Then carefully peel off the clear carrier sheet. If any part of the vinyl starts to lift up, place the carrier sheet and teflon back down and press for a little longer.

Now our large bag is done, so it’s time to move onto our cute zippered pouches.

Iron out the wrinkles of the bag. We want a very smooth surface to work with. Place the HTV labels in the center of each bag.

Then cover with a Teflon sheet and press firmly for 15 seconds. Repeat for each pouch.

Allow to cool one minute, then peel off the clear carrier sheet.

Now all our zippered pouches are labeled and ready to keep our belongings organized.

Grab your towel, sunscreen, and sunglasses and it’s time to have some fun in the sun!!

And there you have it!  The perfect tote made with HTV to store all those sunshine essentials so you have everything you need for a fun day in the sun. Be sure to check out our other blogposts for project inspiration, as well as our large selection of cut files.

Hey there would you mind sharing which blog platform you’re working with? I’m looking to start my own blog in the near future but I’m having a difficult time making a decision between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your layout seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something completely unique. P.S Apologies for getting off-topic but I had to ask!
