With the weather finally getting warming up, you know what that means—it’s baseball season. Like most Moms, you will probably be spending a lot of time at the ballpark this spring (where else would you be) and that means you are going to need something to cute wear, right? So we created an awesome t-shirt made with HTV so that you can look super cute on the sidelines while cheering on your favorite player. The best part, you can make it yourself before the game this weekend! So let’s dive in and I’ll so you how to create your very own baseball-themed t-Shirt with HTV. This HTV project is sure to be a home run!
Step One: Prepare Design in Software
Open your software program (I used Silhouette Studio) and import one of our baseball SVG’s. We used “I only raise Ballers #Baseballmom”. Resize the design by dragging the bottom corner.
I wanted my design to have two colors, which means cutting out the baseball heart twice, but in two different colors. To do this, right click and select Ungroup.
Now you can click the baseball, copy and paste it for the additional layer.
Right-click everything and select Flip Horizontally. This ensures that our design is mirrored, since the machine cuts on the backside of the heat transfer vinyl.
Step Two: Cut and Weed HTV
After the design is prepared in the software, it’s time to cut. Place the HTV onto the cutting mat with the shiny side down. Then open your cut settings menu and select the material we will be cutting. We’ve found that the Heat Transfer, Smooth preset works well. If you have an older blade it may be necessary to increase Blade to a 3.
Load the cutting mat with your HTV into the machine and let it get to work!
After the HTV is cut, it’s time to weed. Begin by peeling off a corner of the HTV, leaving just the design.
Use a weeding hook or a pair of crafting tweezers to get the small detailed parts.
Continue until both parts have been weeded.
Step Three: Press HTV Onto T-Shirt
Once our design is cut and weeded, it’s time to heat up your home iron to cotton settings. Center the first main layer of the design onto your shirt. You can move it around as much as you need until heat is added.
Place a Teflon sheet over the HTV and press for 15-20 seconds per area.
Allow the HTV to cool for at least 1 minute, then gently peel off the clear carrier sheet.
Repeat for the second red layer.
And that’s all there is to it! Making custom t-shirts with HTV is easy & fun, and making one for yourself is a great way to show your support to your little Babe Ruth-in-training. No doubt all the Moms at the field will be asking you to make them one for the next game!
Don’t have a baseball player? No problem! We have all our sports Moms covered. Be sure to check out our Cut File Section for a ton of other adorable sports-themed SVG’s.
